UX/UI design for a mental health start-up

My role: Design and strategy lead

Duration: Spring-Fall 2020

Rose Health

Rose is a mental health startup and I started working for them as a Design lead and strategist through the Hexcite program, a startup accelerator program at Johns Hopkins Medicine Technology Innovation Center. I continued working for Rose after the conclusion of the accelerator program.

My work with Rose included:

Rose Paths

Rose Paths are mental health learning modules in the Rose App. The modules contain multimedia educational content, journal prompts and relaxation exercises curated to help users  understand the mental health disorders they may be suffering from.

Rose Paths further enhances in-clinic conversations between a patient and their physician and augments mental health education outside of the clinic. I worked with a Johns Hopkins psychologist to curate the content, designed the wireframes and worked with a developer to integrate them into the app.

Rose Provider Platform Onboarding

In conjunction with the Rose App used by patients, Rose provides a platform for physicians to see their patients’ Rose App data. I designed the onboarding tutorial to get new physician Rose users acquainted with their dashboard.  The walkthroughs were designed using the Appcues backend software. The images show snippets taken from the onboarding demo.

Accolades

During my time with Rose, I also created various pitch decks and crafted the narrative for pitching Rose to help the CEO compete for funding. The winning pitch had a "hook" derived from a direct user interview I conducted with a doctor - he mentioned that during a standard appointment with a patient, once all the paperwork and customary questions were completed, he only had about 11 minutes to talk about mental health issues. This was a metric that presented a memorable moment to emphasize the value-add of using Rose for patient and provider alike. As a result we won first place in the annual Hexcite final pitch award.
