Be Among The Trees: A Cube Pavilion

Duration: Fall 2020, 4 weeks

Materials: cardboard, basswood

This was my final project for the Intro to Architectural Design course at MICA. The project started with a 6’’x 6’’ cardboard cube (scale 1:4) for which I was tasked to cut and fold pieces of the cube to form a pavilion that accommodates 3 program places to: 

Sit, Rest, & Lookout

Be Among The Trees is about a journey of climbing stairs among the evergreen trees. The journey to the lookout mimics that of climbing a mountain to reach the peak. A journey which is equally as rewarding as the destination.

Making these cross section drawings was one of the hardest tasks for me in this project. I don’t think I quite get the hang of it just yet…
